Meet Tanner Chubey
My Journey
Born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, I grew accustomed to the small town feel. Growing up on an acreage 20 minutes north of town, I fell in love with the plains and gorgeous lakes in the north. With not a ton of action in the rural setting, I adapted an unmatched passion for sports that lives to this day. Playing soccer, baseball, and volleyball still remain some of the highlights of my life. However, my interest in hockey overtakes all others. With that in mind, I decided to venture off to Calgary, Alberta to pursue a Broadcast News degree at SAIT.
Throughout my time in the Radio, Television, Broadcast News program, I have honed several skills for the industry. This includes writing for the web, radio and television, audio and video editing, announcing, photoshop, etc. Play-by-play commentating hooked me instantly, and has been my favourite opportunity throughout the past two years. Along with it, reporting on in-depth sports stories and issues, as well as highlighting local stories in the community have been a real privilege for me. I've enjoyed bits allowing me to show my personality such as weather, podcasting, and entertainment reports.

June 27, 2022, I began my career as a reporter with Global News Saskatoon. I'm proud to have been able to start in a medium sized market with a recognized station straight out of school, all be it at 19-years-old. I was the first on the scene for the arrest of Myles Sanderson, the man wanted on first degree murder charges in relation to the stabbings in James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon, SK., that left 10 dead and 18 injured. Along with that, in my short time with Global News, I have covered stories ranging from the return heat waves impacting the city, to much harder news such as parent abduction, sexual abuse scandals, etc. It's been truly a pleasure to bring stories to the people of my home province.

Saskatoon Blades
Communications Intern
At the start of my final semester at SAIT, I had the opportunity to do a one-month practicum with the Saskatoon Blades organization. I helped mainly helped out with game-day elements such as pre and post game articles for the website, photoshop, running socials, promoting, and writing articles to tell unique stories about players within the club.
Canmore Eagles PxP Announcer
Through the 2021/2022 AJHL season, I was offered the chance to call Canmore Eagles games for Hockey T.V. This helped me develop ad-libbing skills, research skills, and brought out passion in me calling the sport I love most.
September 2021 - March 2022

In the 2018/2019 WHL season, I job-shadowed Trevor Redden in the booth, who at the time was the voice of the Prince Albert Raiders. He saw my passion instantly, and was kind enough to put in a word for me to work in some capacity in relation to the team. I was hired to board-op during the broadcasts for the following season. I played commercials, cut up clips for the pre and post game show, and made sure the Raiders made it to the ears of those who wanted to hear it.

October 2019 - March 2020
Studio Operator for Jim Pattison Broadcast Group in Prince Albert, SK
Delivery Driver for B and P Water in Prince Albert, SK
May 2019 - August 2021
At B and P Water I became one of the most relied upon employees during my short time. My main task was delivering water jugs and ice to locations around town, as well as rural places around the province. Carrying 500+ water jugs per day became routine, along with other work such as bagging ice, running the till, loading and unloading trucks of water, and hauling water to customers cars out the front.
